ShadowFX : Static Dissipative Carpet (SDC), designed to handle any static control flooring application. Unlike conductive tile and carpet, static dissipative carpet (SDC) meets all grounding standards. It can be used in electronics manufacturing, telecommunication rooms, E-9-1-1 call centers, Data Centers, FAA flight towers and anywhere energized equipment is used.
Less expensive than most hard-surface floors, static control modular carpet is easy to install, maintain and can be replaced or moved and reused. ShadowFX tile offers permanent static protection at an affordable price.
Defined Ohms Ranges per ESD Association Document ANSI/ESD AD V1. 0-2009:
- Conductive Floor Material
A floor material that has a resistance to ground of less than 1.0 x 106 ohms.
Note: Based on this official definition, any carpet measuring between 2.5 x 104 ohms and 1.0 X 106 ohms is conductive - Static Dissipative Floor Material
Floor material that has a resistance to ground between 1.0 x 106 and 1.0 x 109 ohms.
Note: Based on this official definition, any carpet measuring between 1.0 x 106 ohms and 1.0 X 108 ohms is static dissipative.
Grounding Requirements:
- Motorola R56 grounding requirements for flooring in Equipment Rooms and Dispatch Centers
Carpeting or floor tiles within an equipment room or dispatch center, including raised flooring, should have a resistance to ground measurement of between 106 and 109 ohms when measured using the test method of ANSI/ESD-S7.1-2005 or later - ATIS-0600321 grounding requirements for Network Operator Equipment Positions: Call Centers, Networked Office Call Centers, 911 Call Centers and Telecommunication Rooms
Any carpeting or floor tiles should have a resistance to ground between 106 and 1010 ohms when measured using the method of ESD-S7.1 - FAA STD 019e Grounding Requirements for Facilities and Electronic Equipment
All ESD control floors and floor coverings shall have a point to point and a surface to ground resistance of greater than 1.0 X 106 and 1.0 X 109 ohms (ESD STM7.1) ESD control flooring and floor coverings include vinyl tile, vinyl sheet, carpet, carpet tile with positioning buttons and others but not to include applied coatings.
ShadowFX SDC Proven Durability
Staticworx® ESD carpet tile works where you need it the most: In high traffic areas and under your rolling chairs.
The Roller Caster Electrical Test (CET), an accelerated life test for static resistant carpet tile, determines how well a carpet tile will retain its electrical properties after 12 to 24 months exposure of abuse from chairs rolling over the floor. Rolling casters splinter and fracture the carbon fibers in static resistant carpet tile. From years of abuse, fractured carbon fibers lose electrical continuity with the carpet tile backing thereby creating an open electrical circuit = no path to ground; in a poorly designed conductive or static dissipative carpet tile, excessive chair caster damage will deteriorate the electrical properties to the point where the – once antistatic carpet tile - will actually generate more static electricity than the typical carpet found in the family room in residential environments.
ShadowFX SDC™ carpet tiles have been tested for resistance to chair caster abuse. After 100,000 chair caster cycles ShadowFX SDC will still meet the static control performance requirements of ANSI/ESD S20.20, Motorola R56, FAA STD 019e and ATIS-0600321.
